Scripture texts

The biblical texts and other cited works are not covered by the above; each carries its own license. See Texts and Translations for details (Septuagint: public domain / CC0; New Testament: CC BY 4.0).

Fonts

Greek and Hebrew are set in self-hosted open-source typefaces: Noto Serif (polytonic Greek) and Ezra SIL (pointed and cantillated Hebrew, after the Biblia Hebraica Stuttgartensia). Both are licensed under the SIL Open Font License 1.1; their license files travel with the font subsets in the repository.

Lectionary data

The daily lectionary readings are derived from orthocal-python, used under the MIT License. Byzantique precomputes the readings from its data; there is no runtime dependency on any external service.

Site code

Byzantique is open source. The code that runs the site — the Astro application, build scripts, and styles — is released under the MIT License, separate from the commentary above. The full source lives on GitHub: github.com/biblenerd/byzantique.

The repository bundles several licenses — code (MIT), commentary (CC BY-SA 4.0), the vendored scripture texts, fonts (OFL), and lectionary data (MIT), each under its own terms. The breakdown is in its LICENSING file.
