Privacy Policy

When you visit this website, it is also visiting you — though, here, rather less than most places on the Internet. Byzantique is a small static site. I don't run my own servers or ad networks; the site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages and uses Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is privacy-friendly and cookieless.

Usage Data

Like nearly every website, some Usage Data may be collected automatically. This can include your device's Internet Protocol (IP) address, browser type and version, the pages of this website that you visit, the time and date of your visit, and basic performance measurements such as how quickly pages load for you. With Cloudflare Web Analytics this information is aggregated — used to count visits, see which pages are read, and monitor how fast the site is for real visitors — and is not tied to a profile of you or used to identify you personally.

Cookies

Here's the good news. This site does not set advertising or tracking cookies, does not use web beacons or pixel tags to follow you, and does not fingerprint you or track you across other websites. There is no "little gift known as a cookie — a text file filled with inscrutable gibberish" left behind here, and no advertising or data-broker partners receiving your information.

Your browser always sends some basic information (like your IP address) to any server it talks to — that's simply how the Internet works — but this site does not store it in a database or sell it to anyone.

Data Retention

I don't maintain my own database of visitors. Cloudflare keeps aggregate analytics for a limited window for the counts above. Frankly, I can't find my keys half the time — I'm not about to start building a dossier on you.

Not for Children

This website does not address anyone under the age of 13, and does not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from anyone under the age of 13.

Security

The security of your data matters, but remember that no method of transmission over the Internet, or method of electronic storage, is 100% secure. The site is served over HTTPS, but absolute security cannot be guaranteed.
